The name "Habakkuk" has Hebrew roots and means "He who Embraces". "Habakkuk's Kids" would mean "He who Embraces Kids". The pronunciation of "Habakkuk" can vary, but one common way is "HA-BAK-kas".
According to Ark of Hope for Children:
https://arkofhopeforchildren.org/child-abuse/child-abuse-statistics-info
There are 437,000 children in foster care. On any given day, nearly 690,000 children spent time in U.S. foster care. 68% of foster children have 1 or more siblings (brother/sister). Only 30% of siblings can live together in foster care. 20,000 youth annually "age out" of the system at 18 years old · 89% of children adopted from care received adoption subsidies. 1/2 of all foster children become available for adoption. 129,000 await adoption into "Forever Families". 72,000 awaiting adoption for 2 or more years .
Habakkuk's Kids was created to help assist the state with the Foster Care Crisis on shortage of home placements. Our goal is to provide a place, where all the needs of these children can be met and to avoid from shifting them from home to home.
The team and board members have over 60 years of combined experience in serving and caring for thousands of children. They come from backgrounds such as teaching, school counseling, youth mentoring, child protection services, and children's ministry at their church.
Habakkuk's Kids will not be under any denominational church. We are a faith-driven corporation that puts its faith in Jesus Christ first, which drives the way we work and live. We believe that God oversees everything we do and use our work, time, and energy to serve Him well.

Apologies, we are not offering any programs at the moment as we are still in the process of setting up our facility.
At first, our team is concentrating on this specific age group as they need more support than individuals in the foster care system. When foster youth age out of the system, they face many challenges, including homelessness, undereducation, difficulty finding employment, substance abuse, crime victimization, and human trafficking. Many turn to sex work, and 60% of all sex trafficking victims have a history in the child welfare system. High rates of PTSD and incarceration after aging out further exacerbate these issues. The foster care system can be a traumatizing place, even for those who enter due to abuse or neglect.
Habakkuk's Kids recognizes that not everyone is made college material. Our plans is to collaborate with community businesses to provide trades for those aging out of the system. Trades like Automotive Mechanics, Electricians, Welding Plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) etc. This partnership can benefit both the Habakkuk's Kids and community businesses.
In the far future, our main objective is to offer a range of programs to families in need, irrespective of their situation or social standing.
